This page explains how to remove data stored on your device and how to request deletion of data associated with an optional CathoLock account.
Data on your device
Prayer schedules, completion history, and most app settings are stored locally on your phone or tablet. The apps you choose to block and Screen Time (iOS) or usage-access (Android) selections stay on the device; we do not upload those tokens.
Uninstalling CathoLock removes local data on that device. It does not delete a cloud account if you previously signed in.
If you sign in
Sign-in is optional. Core blocking still works without an account. If you choose Sign in with Apple (iOS) or Google Sign-In (Android), we create a Firebase Auth account and may store:
- A user ID (Firebase UID) and identity tokens from Apple or Google
- Your name, if Apple or Google provides it
- Synced prayer state: schedule, completions, streak, and selected preferences such as Silent Night or Desert Mode (not blocked-app tokens)
- Prayer Chain membership, display name, intention text, and contribution metadata, visible to other members of that private chain
- A RevenueCat customer identity linked to your Firebase UID when you are signed in
- Crash and diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics, and analytics identifiers
Display names in Prayer Chains use the first name from onboarding (fallback “Member”), not a public profile. Private offering notes are not uploaded.
Sign out versus delete
Sign out ends the session on that device. It does not delete your Firebase account, synced prayer state, or Prayer Chain data.
Delete (this request, or Delete account in the app when available) removes the cloud account and associated data described below, where technically feasible.
How to request deletion
To request deletion of account, sync, Prayer Chain, and diagnostic data we may hold, please:
- Email hello@catholock.com
- Use the subject line: CathoLock Data Deletion Request
- If you signed in, include your Support ID and/or Firebase UID (shown in the app when signed in). You may also include the Apple or Google email associated with sign-in.
- If you never signed in, include your device type (e.g. iPhone 15, Pixel 8), CathoLock app version if known, and the approximate dates you used the app so we can locate Crashlytics records.
- We will process your request and confirm by email
Until Delete account ships in Settings, this email request is the current path to delete cloud data. When in-app deletion is available, it will cover the same account and cloud data as this request.
What we may delete
Upon a verified request, we will delete or anonymize data associated with your request, where technically feasible, including:
- The Firebase Auth user
- Synced prayer state stored for that account
- Prayer Chain membership and related content, as feasible
- The link between your account and RevenueCat customer identity
- Crash reports, stack traces, and diagnostic identifiers Crashlytics or analytics associate with your installation or account
- Device and app metadata sent with crash reports (device model, OS version, app version)
What may be retained
Some information may be retained where legally or operationally necessary, including:
- Purchase and subscription records handled by Apple or Google (manage those through your App Store or Google Play account)
- Aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot reasonably be linked to you
- Security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance records
- Support correspondence related to your request or prior inquiries
Processing timeframe
We aim to process deletion requests within 30 days of confirmation. You will receive an email when deletion is complete or if we need additional information to locate your data.
